Tunneling for Tjørnuvík tunnel set to begin in 2025 according to Ministry of Fisheries and Transport

Next year, tunneling for the Tjørnuvík tunnel is set to begin, according to the Ministry of Fisheries and Transport.

Funding was allocated for the design phase last year, and this year, the budget includes provisions to complete the project.

In the budget for next year, funds have also been earmarked for the Tjørnuvík tunnel, and if all goes as planned, drilling will commence in early 2025.

Dennis Holm, the Minister, stated that the government has prioritized the Tjørnuvík tunnel to ensure connections to the rest of the country align with those in other regions.

The tunneling project will be carried out by the tunnel division at the National Works Department, and additional contractors will also be involved in the project.
