Child injured in vehicle accident at crosswalk in Rauma, Finland

The Southwestern Finland Police provided further details regarding an accident that occurred on Tuesday in Rauma, where a child was struck by a vehicle. The elementary school-aged boy sustained serious injuries during the incident.

The accident took place on Tuesday afternoon around 1:20 PM at a crosswalk near the intersection of Uotilan Vanhatie and Sarkontie. A camper van driven by a man collided with the boy, who was crossing the street on his bicycle.

Authorities are investigating the incident as a case of endangering traffic safety and causing bodily harm. Police suspect both parties involved in the accident may have violated traffic regulations.

According to information obtained by the police, another vehicle was driving in front of the camper van and turned onto Sarkontie just before the collision. The driver of this vehicle, as well as any other potential witnesses, are urged to contact the police.
