Strong low-pressure system brings wind warning and rain to Northern Finland

Finland

A strong low-pressure system is currently moving across the northern part of Finland, generating winds in Central and Northern Lapland. A wind warning has been issued for the region today, although strong winds are a common occurrence in the mountains, according to Yle meteorologist Matti Huutonen. Light rain is expected in North Ostrobothnia and Lapland, while the rest of the country will experience mostly clear skies, with sunny conditions noted in the southern parts.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, Central and Northern Finland are likely to enjoy dry and sunny weather. However, a weather front bringing winds and rain from the Baltics is expected to approach Southern Finland. The heaviest rainfall will remain in Estonia, but rain will reach Southern and Eastern Finland. Daytime temperatures are projected to be around 10 degrees Celsius in the south and 5–6 degrees in the north, with even cooler temperatures possible in the northernmost regions of Lapland.

Thursday is also anticipated to be a dry day. Towards the end of the week, occasional rain is likely to spread into Lapland as the low-pressure system moves along the Norwegian coast toward the east. In Upper Lapland, the precipitation may be a mix of rain and sleet, although overall precipitation amounts are expected to remain low.
