Flags honor Miina Sillanpää on Flag Day in Finland

Today, flags are being flown in honor of Miina Sillanpää and civic engagement. This flag day has been officially recognized since last year, but the Ministry of the Interior has recommended flagging on October 1 since 2016. On October 1, 1906, Finland enacted the parliamentary system and electoral law, granting full political rights to its citizens. Miina Sillanpää was elected to the parliament in 1907 and became the first woman to serve as a minister in Finland, holding the position of Deputy Minister of Social Affairs from 1926 to 1927.
