Camma Okami’s experience at the Simba Prisen award show turned out to be brief and tumultuous. On Sunday, the influencer attended the annual event at the Opera House, intended to celebrate Danish influencers. However, she quickly found herself having her dress’s lower half confiscated, leaving her in what she described as “standing with her bare bottom.” She was ultimately removed from the event.

Following her arrival, Okami, who wore a dress with a lengthy train featuring various political messages, aimed to raise awareness on issues such as the climate crisis, which she referred to as genocide, as well as discrimination against LGBT+ individuals and minority Danes. Her train included a pointed critique of the influencer industry, where she expressed, “The world is burning, and our fellow human beings need our voices, but we remain silent and go to the Simba Prisen to celebrate ourselves.”

Okami faced a swift response from event organizers, who seemed taken aback by her political stance. As she began to give interviews, security approached her, and she was escorted through the opera foyer, exposing herself to onlookers due to the nature of her outfit underneath.

In the aftermath, Okami maintained her criticism of the influencer industry for not speaking out enough on societal issues. She believes influencers possess vast potential to create positive change rather than focusing solely on self-promotion. Okami called for the community to embrace activism in various forms, suggesting that fear of backlash and financial interests often hold influencers back from addressing critical topics.

Though some of her past commercial partnerships have led her to question their value, Okami remains committed to transforming the industry from within, asserting that change is essential for progress.
