Beinir Johannesen questions financial implications of shortened workweek in Iceland
Beinir Johannesen has received guidance from the Ministry of Environment regarding the response provided by Ingilín D. Strøm, the Minister, to his inquiry about the financial implications of a shortened workweek.
During a news segment yesterday, Durita Tausen, Deputy Director at the Tax Authority, stated that she did not recognize the response from the Minister.
No Assessment Made
The Tax Authority has conducted a calculation for a working group under specific conditions. However, no formal assessment has been released.
According to Durita Tausen, it would have been desirable to have the opportunity to comment on the response to ensure a more accurate reply was provided.
Since the answer was made public, Beinir Johannesen has received further clarification from the Ministry of Environment concerning the response.
“Based on the answer I received, and the uncertainties it indicates, the matter is far from ready for a decision,” said Beinir Johannesen.
In the segment, it is mentioned that Ingilín D. Strøm was given the opportunity to comment but chose not to. It should have been stated that attempts were made to reach out to Ingilín D. Strøm for comment, but those efforts were unsuccessful.
