Child prompts police response in Sompasaar, Helsinki

A 12-year-old child playing with a toy gun prompted multiple police units to respond in Sompasaar, Helsinki, Saturday evening, according to a statement from the Helsinki Police on their website.

The incident began around 6 PM when the emergency services received reports of a man seen with an object resembling a firearm in the area. Several police units were dispatched to assess the situation.

Upon arrival, police discovered that the individual with the weapon was, in fact, a young child with a toy gun. Authorities do not suspect any criminal activity in this case.

However, the police issued a reminder that they take reports of firearm sightings very seriously.
