Train services resume between Parkano and Seinäjoki after Pendolino fire incident

Train services on the main line between Parkano and Seinäjoki have resumed, as announced by Fintraffic’s traffic management center early Tuesday morning. However, due to the earlier incident, certain trains will be replaced by bus services for the morning schedule.

Specifically, the Intercity train 42 departing from Vaasa at 5:44 AM and the Pendolino S440 leaving at 8:20 AM will be substituted by buses between Vaasa and Seinäjoki. Additionally, the Pendolino S52 that was scheduled to leave Kokkola for Seinäjoki at 5:20 AM will also be replaced by a bus.

Train traffic had been interrupted for several hours on Monday after a Pendolino train’s motor caught fire north of Peräseinäjoki. Following the firefighting efforts, the damaged train unit had to be towed off the tracks.
