Police investigate physical assault and underage driving incidents in Reykjavík area
The police in the Reykjavík metropolitan area are investigating a physical assault that occurred in a private residence in one of the nearby towns. On a summer night in Reykjavík, there were also reports of vandalism with a bicycle set on fire near a school in the western part of the city.
In addition to these incidents, authorities intervened in a situation involving a young driver who was too intoxicated to safely operate a vehicle. It turned out that the driver, who is only fourteen years old, does not possess a valid driver’s license. This raises significant concerns about underage driving in the area.
Furthermore, another young driver was stopped while driving at a speed of 137 kilometers per hour in a zone with a maximum speed limit of 70 kilometers per hour. This alarming rate of speeding highlights ongoing issues surrounding traffic law violations among youth in the region.
