Pharmacy consultations can save €855 million annually for health regions in Finland
Pharmacy consultations can help avoid unnecessary doctor visits and save money for health regions, according to a recent study commissioned by the Finnish Pharmacy Association from the consulting firm Esior. The study examined the economic value generated by pharmacies’ pharmaceutical services.
The findings indicate that pharmacy services save health regions approximately €855 million annually. Many issues related to a patient’s medications or self-care can be resolved directly at the pharmacy, eliminating the need for a doctor’s appointment. This not only benefits patients by providing immediate assistance but also eases the burden on healthcare systems.
