In a quirky tale from Reykjavík’s Vesturbær district, a sociable cat named Petah has garnered attention for her unusual habit of bringing home stolen items. Petah’s owner, Edda Ingadóttir, describes her as a friendly feline with many neighborhood pals. Since being spayed, Petah has taken to exploring outdoors and collecting various discarded items, which she brings back to her home.

Initially, her “loot” consisted of smaller debris like cucumber wrappers and candy packaging. However, in recent weeks, her treasures have escalated to more significant finds, including hoodies, Nike pants, and even stuffed animals. Remarkably, on one occasion, Petah returned with giant blue pool noodles, leaving Edda curious about their origin.

It appears that Petah has a soft spot for the local KR sporting complex, frequently sneaking in to swipe lost items left behind by children during bad weather. Edda pragmatically suggests that the cat might be trying to rescue these items from the rain and keep them safe.

This playful behavior has been well-received by the local community. Edda has shared updates about Petah’s antics in a neighborhood Facebook group, which has generated a warm response among residents. The Vesturbær community prides itself on its harmonious environment, filled with families and pets living together amicably. It seems that Petah’s adventures have added an extra layer of fun and camaraderie among the residents, who find her escapades both entertaining and endearing.
