A metro train malfunctioned and halted at the Koivusaari station in Helsinki today, Saturday. A journalist from Yle, who was traveling from Espoo to Helsinki, reported that prior to reaching the city, the train driver announced a technical issue, stating that the last car had lost power, leaving passengers in the dark.

Shortly after, around 11:45 AM, the metro stopped at Koivusaari station. The driver expressed sincere apologies and informed passengers of significant technical problems, promising efforts to restart the train.

Passengers eventually disembarked at Koivusaari station. This incident is expected to cause delays and irregular service on the metro line. However, the second track remains operational, allowing for continued service, as confirmed by HSL’s communications officer Joona Packalén.

City transit authorities are working to remove the disabled train from the tracks. “It will take about an hour or two to restore normal operation,” Packalén stated.
