Selfoss calls for gender equality in mediation representative elections in Faroe Islands

It surprises me that there are no requirements for gender equality when new mediation representatives are to be elected, says Súni Selfoss, chairman of the Starvsfelagið union and a member of the Trade Union Cooperation.

Selfoss’s union had nominated one man and one woman for the mediation roles. He pointed out that the selection process for the mediation representatives is precisely organized.

Despite the votes ending at 15-3, the union leader is confident that the female candidate is well-suited for the position.

Terje Sigurðsson and Fróði Sivertsen have been re-elected as the mediation representative and alternate representative, starting a new three-year term on October 1.
