A video shot inside the empty Helsinki Arena has surfaced on TikTok, depicting the interior of the venue. In the half-minute clip, the cameraman explores the desolate arena, which appears to have at least two other individuals present. According to Ilta-Sanomat, sources indicate that there was a break-in through the roof during the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

The TikTok account that shared the footage is known for urban exploration content. The video shows the arena flooded with daylight from outside. Although the video has since been removed from the platform, Yle has obtained a copy of it.

Urban exploration typically involves accessing and documenting abandoned or vacant buildings, such as the Helsinki Arena, which has remained idle for nearly three years due to Russian sanctions affecting its owners. Intruders also gained access to additional areas within the facility housing the Ice Hockey Federation.

Henna Malmberg, a communications director for the Federation, stated that it seems no property belonging to the organization was stolen, but investigations are ongoing. Much of the Federation’s equipment remained on-site following the electrical disconnection on September 2, as they had refused to pay outstanding utility bills for the arena, which has been partially owned by Russians. Following the power cut, the arena has been maintained with backup power, and the TikTok video shows some lights still operational.

The police are investigating the break-in, and reports indicate that Helsinki Halli Oy has now implemented continuous security personnel at the venue.
