Young man found dead in Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland, after going missing

A young man, Illes Benedek Incze, who had been missing from Vík í Mýrdal since early Sunday morning, was found dead yesterday evening. The discovery was made around eleven o’clock. He was originally from Hungary and was living and working in the area.

The South Iceland Police have stated that the investigation is ongoing, but foul play is not suspected in his death.

In the wake of this tragedy, a prayer service will be held this evening at Vík Church to honor Illes Benedek. The local community had mobilized search and rescue efforts since he was reported missing, but unfortunately, no further information had been found until yesterday’s announcement.
