Queen Margrethe has been discharged from Rigshospitalet after a fall on Wednesday evening at Fredensborg Palace, according to the royal palace. She sustained injuries to her cervical vertebrae and a fracture in her left hand, which is now in a cast. For the next few months, she will need to wear a rigid neck brace.

The palace reported that the queen remains in good spirits. “Queen Margrethe is in good spirits and is doing well under the circumstances, but will be on sick leave for an extended period,” the palace stated. Consequently, her participation in several upcoming events has been canceled.
