A man suspected of murdering his ten-year-old daughter on Sunday is deemed to be legally competent following a preliminary psychiatric evaluation. Police are actively seeking footage from Krýsuvíkurveg to gain a clearer understanding of the incident.

The father, identified as Sigurður Fannar Þórsson, underwent the psychiatric assessment soon after his arrest in Krýsuvík. Reports suggest that the evaluation supports his legal competency. Grímur Grímsson, a police chief of the central department, has refrained from commenting on specific details of the case. Sigurður Fannar’s last interrogation was on Wednesday, but Grímur could not disclose his current stance on the matter.

Efforts are underway to develop a clearer timeline of the events leading up to the tragedy. As part of this process, police are requesting video evidence from motorists who traveled along Krýsuvíkurveg between Vallarhverfi in Hafnarfjörður and Vigdísarvallarvegur on Sunday, September 15, between 1 PM and 6 PM. Grímur stated that some evidence has already been received, primarily from Teslas with built-in cameras; however, the search for additional footage continues.
