Negotiations resume between Machine Masters’ Association and Local Government Employers’ Association in Iceland

Negotiations are once again taking place between the Machine Masters’ Association and the Local Government Employers’ Association.

Mediator Terje Sigurðsson anticipates that it will not be long before the parties reach an agreement. The Mediation Office became involved in the dispute over the collective agreement in early July. On September 3, the Machine Masters’ Association and the Employers’ Association each departed without a proposal for mediation being presented.

However, a strike involving machine masters working for IRF and SEV has not yet been declared. Sigurðsson reports that communication has resumed between the parties, and the Mediation Office is closely following the situation as it develops.
