Nordea experiences ongoing disruptions in online banking services across Finland

Nordean online banking services have experienced multiple disruptions throughout September, with issues occurring almost daily over the past week. Users have faced difficulties logging into both the online and mobile banking platforms. These problems persisted today, as a significant rise in error reports was noted around 11 AM on the monitoring site Downdetector.

At the beginning of the week, Nordea attributed the disruptions to IT maintenance carried out over the weekend. However, customer complaints had already been reported in the previous week and even at the start of September.

The Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority has not imposed specific limits on the number of disruptions a bank can have before intervention is triggered. According to Jussi Terho, head of the office at the Financial Supervisory Authority, while banks have indeed faced numerous issues, he does not consider the overall situation particularly severe.

Nordea stands as Finland’s second-largest bank by market share. The situation is developing.
