Tórshavn City Council to consider food scheme proposal for kindergartens and schools

The Food Policy Committee and the Welfare Committee of the Tórshavn City Council will consider a proposal from the Republic party concerning a food scheme for kindergartens and schools in the Tórshavn municipality. The proposal was unanimously approved during a city council meeting yesterday.

The initiative aims to ensure that children and youth receive healthy meals while at school or in daycare, according to the Republic party.

Furthermore, the food scheme is expected to support the cultivation of Faroese vegetables and promote sustainable eating practices. It is also intended to educate children and young people about sustainable food culture and how local resources can be better utilized, the Republic party added.
