In recent days, Knút has released a new song titled “Tá ódnin brestur á,” which is an interpretation of Bob Dylan’s classic “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” from 1962. The song was adapted by Rói Patursson in 1978.

While “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” from Dylan’s album “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan” has a duration of 6 minutes and 52 seconds, “Tá ódnin brestur á” is significantly longer, exceeding 9 minutes. Traditionally, jukeboxes, records, and radio stations have led to pop songs being around three to four minutes long. However, with digital media today, artists are not as restricted by such limitations, according to Knút.

“Bob Dylan is probably my favorite singer and songwriter,” says Knút, who has always been fascinated by Rói Patursson’s adaptations. The latter’s version was made in memory of author Magnus Dam Jacobsen, who passed away in 1978.

Rói has successfully transformed this grand and dramatic poem into a Faroese and localized universe.

“I have long desired to create an interpretation of the Faroese version, and I am extremely grateful for the collaborative effort that emerged alongside excellent musicians, singers, and studio enhancements,” Knút adds.
