Swedish government proposes 60 billion kronor budget, prioritizing tax cuts and welfare

The Swedish government’s budget proposal for 2025 includes significant expenditures amounting to over 60 billion kronor, with 27 billion kronor allocated to tax cuts for households. Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson will present the budget to the parliament in the morning and will subsequently hold a press conference. – Reduced taxes for pensioners: 2.5 billion kronor
– Elimination of the job tax deduction phase-out: 4.7 billion kronor
– Reduced tax on savings in Investment Savings Accounts (ISK): 4.4 billion kronor
– Lower fuel tax: 3.2 billion kronor
– Introduced air travel tax: 0.9 billion kronor

– Welfare: 7.5 billion kronor (12%)
– Healthcare: 4.6 billion kronor
– Education: 2.8 billion kronor
– Elderly care: 0.1 billion kronor

– Total defense: 8.6 billion kronor (14%)
– Environment and climate: 1.3 billion kronor (2%)
– Justice system: 3.5 billion kronor (6%)
– Infrastructure (road maintenance): 1.6 billion kronor (3%)
– Research: 1.5 billion kronor (3%)
– Pharmaceutical costs: 5.6 billion kronor (9%)
– Miscellaneous: approximately 4 billion kronor (7%)
