A significant donation was made to the Healthcare Association of HSN in Húsavík, valued at 15 million Icelandic krónur. The contribution, which includes various equipment, features a state-of-the-art echocardiogram machine that will greatly enhance the medical facilities for HSN doctors in Húsavík and surrounding areas.

The ceremonial handover took place at the Hvammur care home in Húsavík, where the equipment is designated for use at both Hvammur and HSN in Þingeyjarsýslum. According to Aðalsteinn Árni Baldursson, chairman of the Framsýn trade union, this donation represents the organization’s commitment to the communities within its operational area. He noted that this is the largest gift they have provided to date.

Dr. Ásgeir Böðvarsson of HSN emphasized the importance of the donation for their operations, stating the devices will benefit both Húsavík and smaller health clinics in the vicinity. The echocardiogram machine will facilitate regular echocardiograms and support the visiting cardiac specialist, marking an essential step in providing specialized care locally.

Dr. Böðvarsson added that the majority of equipment purchases for the institution are funded by donations, with approximately 90% of the equipment coming through the HSN supporting association in recent years. He mentioned that the institution does not rely on governmental allocations for such equipment purchases.
