This morning, a partial lunar eclipse will take place. At the peak of the eclipse, approximately eight percent of the Moon’s surface will be in the Earth’s outer shadow, according to the Astronomical Association Ursa. The eclipse is set to begin with a barely noticeable penumbral phase at 3:41 AM. The Moon will noticeably darken at 5:13 AM, marking the start of the partial phase. The maximum eclipse will occur at 5:44 AM, visible across the entire country.
Ursa notes that the Moon will be very low in the sky throughout the event and will start to set before the eclipse concludes. During the entire eclipse, the Moon will be moving across the southwestern and west-southwestern sky.
