The police have released the name of the girl who died on Sunday evening. The victim, identified as Kolfinna Eldey Sigurðardóttir, was ten years old and lived in Reykjavik. This information comes from a statement issued by the Greater Reykjavik police.

Kolfinna’s father, who is currently in custody and suspected of having caused her death, has not been named in the report. He is identified as Sigurður Fannar Þórsson, aged 45. Sigurður himself called the police around 6 PM on Sunday to report that he had harmed his daughter. Authorities located him near the Vatnsskarð quarry, where he directed them to the location of Kolfinna’s body, found a short distance away. Sigurður’s vehicle was present at the scene.

He was interrogated that evening but remained largely silent during questioning. Since then, the police have not taken a formal statement from him. Sigurður is being held in custody at Hólmsheiði, where he did not contest the police’s request for remand.

As investigations continue regarding the circumstances surrounding Kolfinna’s death, the police are focusing on detailed inquiries to uncover the events leading up to this tragic incident.
