Statue of Andreu Árting to be unveiled in Steintún, Tórshavn

On Sunday, a statue of Andreu Árting will be unveiled in Steintún in the capital city of Tórshavn.

The unveiling ceremony will be led by Heðin Mortensen, the mayor, alongside Gunvør Balle, a member of the city council. The Havnar Horn Orchestra will perform pieces associated with Andreu Árting during the event.

Mayor Heðin Mortensen will welcome the attendees, followed by a speech from Kári Árting, the grandson of Andreu Árting. Additionally, artist Edward Fuglø will deliver remarks, and Gunvør Balle will present greetings before the statue is revealed.

The initiative to create the statue was initially proposed by Gunvør Balle in November 2018 when she was chair of the city’s culture committee.
