The Swedish Public Employment Service has announced plans to reduce its workforce, affecting approximately 228 employees. This decision aims to cut expenses by 500 million kronor (around $48 million) by the year 2025. The reductions will primarily target positions in administrative and support functions, while the number of employment counselors is not expected to change.

The agency stated the need to decrease operational costs, particularly those allocated for personnel. It emphasized the importance of making tough decisions to fulfill its core mission effectively.

The Public Employment Service clarified that the announcement is not a confirmation of immediate layoffs but rather an early warning that job cuts may be forthcoming.
