Faroe Islands opens diplomatic mission in Washington D.C.

The Faroe Islands has officially opened its diplomatic mission in Washington D.C.

Bjørn Kunoy serves as the Faroe Islands’ envoy in the U.S. capital. The mission is located in the House of Sweden, which also houses the embassies of Iceland and Sweden.

The annual operating cost of the embassy is estimated at five million Danish kroner. The Faroese government has allocated five million kroner for next year and an additional five million for 2025, with two million kroner set aside for this year.

The collaboration with the United States is a high priority for the Faroese government, according to Høgni Hoydal, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade.
