Concerns regarding medical standards have led the Midtjylland Region to suspend a senior physician from Ward C of the Regional Psychiatry in Randers. This action was taken in February after the hospital administration received a report through the region’s whistleblower system.

Tina Ebler, the hospital director for psychiatry in Midtjylland, stated that the administration reviewed 13 specific patient records and found that the treatment provided fell below the expected professional standards. Consequently, the physician was suspended shortly after and has since resigned.

The region has initiated a thorough review of all patients currently admitted to Ward C. Experienced specialists are reassessing the treatments of these patients. Ebler emphasized that they are investigating the extent of potentially incorrect or inadequate treatments, opting for a cautious approach by examining all patients who had contact with the implicated physician. Approximately 1,500 patients are involved in this review process.

However, Ebler clarified that this does not imply that all these patients received incorrect treatments. Jakob Paludan, the medical director of psychiatry in Midtjylland, has indicated that the first letters have been sent to former patients of the ward.

Additionally, the management team of Regional Psychiatry in Randers has agreed to step down, following a mutual accord with the Midtjylland Region.
