Man remanded in custody for murder of daughter in Reykjanes, Iceland
A man in his forties has been remanded in custody by the Reykjanes District Court, following his arrest on suspicion of murdering his ten-year-old daughter. The court’s decision to hold him in custody until next Tuesday was made at the request of law enforcement, citing investigatory needs.
The man was taken into custody after he called emergency services himself to report the incident. Initially, he was vague about the circumstances and his location. Responding officers quickly arrived at the scene, which was identified as lava fields near the Vatnsskarð quarry along the Krýsuvíkurveg road.
Search efforts for the girl began, but unfortunately, she was discovered nearby and all attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
