Man remanded in custody for attempted murder following shooting in Pähkinärinne, Vantaa

A man in his thirties has been remanded in custody on probable cause for attempted murder in connection with a shooting incident that occurred last Thursday in Pähkinärinne, Vantaa. The suspect is believed to have shot a man in his fifties inside a commercial space at a shopping center around 4 PM. The victim sustained serious injuries and has been hospitalized over the weekend; however, according to Rauno Jämsä, the lead investigator, his condition is not critical. There are plans to transfer him from the intensive care unit to a regular hospital ward possibly today.

Multiple eyewitnesses witnessed the incident, but police have yet to interview all of them, and the motive for the shooting remains unclear. Investigators are also exploring whether the victim and the suspect were acquainted. The suspect was apprehended shortly after the event in a passenger vehicle near the Pirkkola Sports Park in Helsinki. The deadline for filing charges in this case is set for December 3.
