An Icelandic man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his young daughter. The incident occurred yesterday near Krýsuvíkurveg, north of Kleifarvatn. The father, who is Icelandic, reportedly contacted the police to inform them of his daughter’s death.

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered the lifeless body of the girl, believed to be of elementary school age, and took the man into custody. The police had a significant presence in the area and confirmed that the investigation into the girl’s death is underway but remains in its early stages.

This morning, law enforcement issued a brief statement indicating that the cause of death was under investigation, and they would not provide further details at this time. It has not been disclosed whether the cause of death has been determined, nor whether the man will face custody proceedings—common in cases of this nature.

This tragic event marks the sixth homicide case in Iceland this year, bringing the total number of murder victims to seven. The case has drawn considerable attention, leading to discussions about the implications for the small Nordic nation, known for its low crime rates.
