Eiríkur Elías Þorláksson and Eyvindur G. Gunnarsson recommended for judgeship at Landsréttur in Iceland

Eiríkur Elías Þorláksson, the president of the law department at the University of Reykjavík, and Eyvindur G. Gunnarsson, a professor at the University of Iceland’s law department, have been deemed the most qualified candidates for a judgeship at the Landsréttur, Iceland’s second-highest court. This assessment is based on a review from a selection committee regarding the qualifications of the applicants.

Five individuals applied for the position, which was advertised during the summer. In addition to Eiríkur and Eyvindur, the applicants included district judges Arnaldur Hjartarson, Daði Kristjánsson, and Hlynur Jónsson. The selection committee has submitted its recommendations to the Minister of Justice, who will make the final appointment.
