Police investigate attempted murder in Jämsä, Central Finland
The Central Finland Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Jämsä on Saturday, classifying it as an attempted murder, aggravated violation of domestic peace, and firearm offenses, according to Investigating Officer, Crime Commissioner Kari Aaltio. The suspect is a local man in his sixties and is currently in custody. Police will determine on Monday whether to present the suspect for remand.
Several shots were fired towards a residence in downtown Jämsä on Saturday night; fortunately, no injuries resulted from the incident. Aaltio stated that the situation was preceded by a disagreement between the victim and the suspect. During the arrest, authorities found a legal firearm in the possession of the suspect. The man complied with the police’s directives at the time of his apprehension.
The police received reports of the gunfire through emergency services shortly after eleven o’clock in the evening.
