Scent plays role in partner selection, says Johan Lundström from Karolinska Institute in Sweden

Scent may play a role in partner selection, according to Johan Lundström, a professor of psychology specializing in odor perception at the Karolinska Institute’s Department of Clinical Neuroscience. He notes that scent is deeply intertwined with our senses and emotions, often associating certain aromas with specific situations and people.

Lundström explains that pheromones are individual molecules that can influence our behavior subconsciously. However, he points out that applying pheromones directly from products, often derived from pig pheromones, is not effective. Instead, he mentions that we emit chemical signals that can assist in making better choices.

While pheromone perfumes may not capture the essence of actual pheromones, Lundström suggests that these fragrances can still enhance one’s perceived attractiveness. He elaborates on this in a video, dispelling myths surrounding scent and relationships.
