Hau Hau dog food testing reveals no evidence of defects in Finland

Initial laboratory tests conducted on Hau Hau Champion dog food products have not revealed any evidence supporting the suspected product defects. Prime Pet Premium, the manufacturer of Hau Hau products, sent multiple samples of their lightweight rolls for testing after the products were withdrawn from sale at the end of August. The tests, carried out by the Finnish Food Authority, examined mineral and trace elements, heavy metals, and biogenic amines, with no unusual findings reported, according to the company’s statement.

The company anticipates that all laboratory test results will be available by the end of October. However, testing of the beefhide chew sticks has proven challenging. The hard material is difficult to grind into a fine powder, which is required for accurate testing.

Prime Pet Premium stated that decisions regarding reimbursement of veterinary expenses for pets will be made as soon as all laboratory studies have been completed. The lightweight rolls are suspected of causing neurological symptoms in dogs.

The product defect suspicion is limited to the 500-gram packets of Hau-Hau Lightweight Rolls, which have a “best before” date of April 16, 2027. The product’s EAN code is 6430076899910. Reports indicate that the product may have led to symptoms in dogs, including vomiting, panic attacks, and loss of appetite.
