Car fire reported in Tórshavn with driver safely evacuated

A regular gasoline-powered car has caught fire, according to the duty officer at the police station in Tórshavn, who reports that only the driver was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

When authorities spoke to the driver shortly after the fire started, he had exited the vehicle and was standing a short distance away.

Emergency teams are currently working to extinguish the flames, and the police are directing traffic away from the Kollfjarðartunnel.

People are advised to use Oyggjarvegin as a detour in the meantime.
