Bus fire in West Fjords of Iceland involves nearly sixty passengers

A bus fire occurred in the West Fjords of Iceland today, involving nearly sixty passengers. Fortunately, all passengers managed to escape unharmed. The incident took place around 4 PM on the road through Tungudal in Skutulsfjörður, leading to the closure of the road while firefighting efforts and investigations were conducted.

Photos from the scene depict the bus severely damaged by the flames. Passengers, who were tourists arriving earlier that day on a cruise ship, were safely evacuated and transported away from the site in another bus.

As of the latest update, authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported, marking a fortunate outcome given the circumstances. The damaged bus is deemed entirely unsalvageable. The road closure allowed emergency services to effectively manage the situation and establish safety measures for ongoing investigations.
