Elvar Ingimarsson, the owner of the restaurant Italia, has stated that the establishment owes approximately two million Icelandic króna in unpaid wages and is currently working to settle the matter with its employees.

In a recent statement, Elvar explained that he purchased the restaurant in May 2023. Shortly after, he lost the original location on Laugavegur and relocated to Frakkastígur, where the restaurant currently operates. He acknowledged that maintaining a restaurant in the current environment of high interest rates and inflation has proven to be challenging.

Elvar confirmed that the company has struggled to meet payroll obligations, with the sum of unpaid wages currently amounting to two million króna. He emphasized that efforts are underway to address the situation.

The restaurant Italia is facing ongoing disputes related to these wage issues.
