The mayor of Hov Municipality expresses surprise at the community’s strong performance in a national survey, ranking among the best in the country. The municipality received an impressive score of 89 out of 100 for overall satisfaction and a remarkable 95 for loyalty, the highest ratings across all municipalities in the nation.

Delmar Tausen, the mayor, is pleased with the unexpected results. A survey conducted by Lóður for Kringvarpið received responses from 27 residents in Hov. When asked if they would recommend others to move to the municipality, Hov also achieved a score of 95 out of 100, indicating excellent community sentiment.

However, despite these positive ratings, the municipality faces a shortage of housing and land to accommodate newcomers wishing to relocate to Hov. This presents a challenge for local officials amid their favorable reputation.

In the recent village council elections in Hov, the municipality was nearly in a state of emergency. As the deadline for candidates approached, there were not enough individuals willing to run for the council, necessitating an extension of the nomination period. Ultimately, two additional candidates were added from a different list.

Mayor Tausen noted that the lack of interest in local politics indicates a challenge for community engagement, suggesting it may discourage residents from participating in municipal governance.
