The Efling trade union organized a protest outside the restaurant Ítalía in Reykjavik this evening in response to repeated breaches of wage agreements and workers’ rights by the establishment’s owner and management. According to Efling’s statement, approximately forty members of the union have approached them regarding ongoing violations involving wage theft at the owner’s restaurants.

The protest was prompted by allegations that employees have been improperly compensated for their work, including unpaid overtime, work on public holidays, and general wages. Many employees reportedly received payment below the legal minimum, and there are instances of late or missed wage payments.

Efling has opened multiple cases against the restaurants owned by this individual, with several cases already referred to legal services. The oldest complaints date back to August 2022, and union members continue to report similar issues up to the present.

The union emphasized the importance of their message, stating, “By dining at the restaurant Ítalía, one supports violations of wage agreements, wage theft, and exploitation of workers.”
