Jón Kragesteen has expressed concern that the Municipality of Tórshavn is not considering the needs of cyclists and pedestrians in relation to the Húsareyn Tunnel. This tunnel is expected to be a natural part of the transport network for residents in the upper areas of Tórshavn and Hoyvík, as well as for those who are likely to move into the region towards Sund and Sandvíkarhjalla in the future. Kragesteen notes that the standard lanes are seven meters wide, offering a substantial 3.5 meters on each side for the development of a proper walkway and cycling path adjacent to the roadway. The Mayor of Tórshavn Municipality has pointed out that the municipality adheres to its expertise and therefore will not be creating a dedicated pedestrian and cycling path within the tunnel. For further details, a broadcast segment on the topic is available in the local radio news.
