The autumn is progressing with typical rainfall, yet temperatures are exceptionally high. As of Tuesday, September has recorded a remarkable eight heat days, well above the normal average of nearly one, according to meteorologist Henriikka Heikinoja from Yle. Warm weather is expected to continue into the weekend, although the days leading up to it will be slightly cooler.

Temperatures will remain below 20 degrees Celsius across most of the country until Friday, but are anticipated to rise over the weekend. Rainfall will be widespread throughout the latter part of the week, though the northernmost Lapland region will experience the driest conditions. Today’s and tomorrow’s showers are expected to be light and scattered.

Strong winds are also common in autumn due to powerful air currents, notes the meteorologist. However, the winds on Wednesday are predicted to be more stable following Tuesday’s gusts. For further updates on the weather, check the Yle weather pages.
