The plan is to upgrade the Funningsfjardard road to a two-lane route, realign it, pave it, and develop a pedestrian path along part of the road.

This statement was made by Dennis Holm, Minister of Infrastructure, in response to Magnus Rasmussen, a member of the Parliament of the Faroe Islands.

The most recent work contract was signed in June and covers about 300 meters of road. The project is expected to continue until the New Year.

In 2019, the Roads Authority began the expansion of the road from Millum Fjarða to Funningsfjørð, with work ongoing in 2021, 2022, and now into 2023.

A total of 14.2 million Danish kroner has been allocated for the project over these years, with two million kroner allocated this year alone.
