Barber in Akranes celebrates 90th birthday after 75 years in business

A barber in Akranes celebrated his 90th birthday yesterday, marking an impressive 75 years of dedicated service in his shop. Despite his advanced age, he maintains excellent eyesight and steady hands, essential qualities for his craft. He expressed a profound enjoyment for his work, stating, “I’ve never gotten tired of it, and my customers are usually very entertaining. That’s the main thing.”

During a visit from a local news team, a long-time customer took a seat in the chair. The patron has been a regular for nearly 60 years, having been introduced to the barbering experience in his childhood while growing up in Akranes. He noted that every visit is always memorable.

The barber remains committed to his profession, emphasizing that as long as he is in good health, he plans to continue working. “In my mind, there’s nothing remarkable about working if you have your health,” he remarked.
