A 21-year-old man has been sentenced today to five years in prison for the sexual assault of two girls and for engaging in sexual relations with three other girls under the age of 15.

Furthermore, he has been found guilty of supplying drugs to the girls. In addition to his prison sentence, he is required to pay a total of 190,000 krónur in compensation to the victims.

The ruling aligns closely with what the prosecution had demanded. The prosecution initially sought a sentence ranging from five to fifteen years of unconditional imprisonment.

When considering the total length of the sentences, the accumulated time could have exceeded seven years of unconditional imprisonment. However, the legal system took the defendant’s circumstances into account, resulting in a lesser total sentence.

On the other hand, the defense argued that a more appropriate sentence would be three and a half years, with some of it being conditional. Regarding the charges of sexual offenses and drug involvement, the defense highlighted fines as a suitable form of punishment.

The defendant has requested a period for consideration regarding whether he will appeal the verdict to a higher court.
