The role of the banned gang Loyal To Familia (LTF) in the case involving a 21-year-old man accused of setting fire to a Jewish woman’s residence remains unclear. One possibility is that individuals linked to the gang may offer their criminal services to paying clients. Michael Hamann, head of the Center for Terror Analysis in the Police Intelligence Service, noted that organized criminals are generally driven by profit and status within their environment. However, they can also function as what is termed “crime as a service,” acting on behalf of others.

Hamann pointed out that like anyone else, organized criminals could be motivated by events in Palestine. There may be two scenarios: either someone commissioned the act from individuals associated with the gang, or the act was independently pursued. While he refrained from discussing the specifics of the situation in Denmark, he remarked that there are international examples of criminals being hired to carry out attacks.

According to the indictment, the suspect allegedly ignited upholstered balcony furniture on May 29, causing a fire that could have spread further had it not been detected. He reportedly used an incendiary liquid, but he denies the charges. The preliminary hearing was held behind closed doors due to the early stage of the investigation, and police are not ruling out the possibility of accomplices being at large.

Hamann stated that they believe the perpetrator did not act alone, but emphasized that the suspect is currently in custody. He added that guarantees cannot be provided in this line of work, underlining the continuous efforts by the Police Intelligence Service and international partners to maintain security in Denmark. The suspect has been remanded in custody until September 27.
