Man found guilty of raping two girls in Faroese court

A 21-year-old man has been found guilty in the Faroese court of raping two girls and engaging in sexual relations with three others under the age of 15. Additionally, he has been convicted of supplying these girls with drugs.

During this morning’s court session, the six jurors revealed their verdicts regarding the charges against the 21-year-old, who faced a total of 11 offenses over the past week. He was charged with five counts of rape, with the jurors acquitting him in three instances while finding him guilty in the remaining two cases.

He was also convicted in three instances of engaging in sexual activities with girls below the criminal age of consent, which is set at 15. The accused admitted guilt in two of these cases.

In some of the charges, the jurors were not in agreement, necessitating a vote to reach a decision. The 21-year-old was found guilty of administering Ritalin and hashish to the underage girls, to which he also confessed.

During this morning’s proceedings, the defense presented witnesses who testified that the accused had taken a greater number of drinks and drugs than others. The accused himself was also questioned about these matters and claimed that the treatment he received had been beneficial to him.

The court session is scheduled to resume at noon, when the sentencing will be determined.
