Man linked to Loyal To Familia arrested for arson targeting Jewish woman’s home in Denmark

A man suspected of arson targeting the home of a Jewish woman in the capital region has links to the banned gang Loyal To Familia (LTF), according to the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET). PET Chief Finn Borch Andersen provided insights about the ongoing investigation, noting that the agency has long warned of an increased terrorist threat against Jewish and Israeli targets in Denmark, particularly due to the recent conflict in Israel and Gaza.

Borch Andersen emphasized the seriousness of a situation where an individual in Denmark is targeted for terrorism based on their Jewish background. He expressed concern about the recurring connections to LTF in terrorism-related cases. The investigation is ongoing, and it remains too early to determine whether this incident is an isolated case or part of a broader trend in the terrorist threat landscape.

The reference to “again” highlights that authorities arrested several individuals last December in an anti-terror operation linked to LTF, although the specifics of that case are still not public. During a court hearing, it was mentioned that the earlier case was related to Hamas.

The current threat level in Denmark stands at “serious,” the second highest of five levels. Borch Andersen assured that the arson incident will not change this assessment. He reassured the public that “all Danes should continue to live their lives as usual,” while the agency closely monitors the situation and implements necessary security measures in collaboration with the Jewish community to enhance safety.
