In western Finland, winds may become dangerously strong today, according to the Finnish Meteorological Institute. In regions such as Satakunta, Southern Ostrobothnia, Ostrobothnia, and Central Ostrobothnia, wind speeds could reach gusts of up to 20 meters per second. These strong winds could lead to various issues, including power outages and disruptions in communication networks.

Meteorologist Henriikka Heikinoja has assessed that significant damage is unlikely, as trees typically do not fall due to gusty winds. However, it is advisable to secure lightweight items outdoors, such as children’s toys, as they may be carried off if the wind picks up.

In other areas of western Finland and to the west of North Ostrobothnia, strong winds are expected to continue into the afternoon, with gusts reaching speeds of up to 15 meters per second. Warnings are also in place for maritime areas due to high winds and rough seas.

The weather nationwide remains warm, with temperatures approaching heatwave levels in many areas. However, temperatures are expected to cool down in the evening as scattered rain showers move into the southwestern regions of the country.
